Golden Globes - Yay or nay?

The Golden Globes have come to an end (since last night actually!) and today is when I post my mental results of what I liked and not.
Let's start with the best dressed of the night and most surprising (good!) choices:

Angelina Jolie

Those of you who read my previous Golden Globes post where I was choosing dresses for the ladies, you would know that my wish got 70% granted - Angie did wear Versace, and she also wore green! I still think that the dress I chose was more sexier because of the skin-showing but for her taste, this is ah-mazing.

Anne Hathaway

Another lady that knocked me off last night was the forever gorgeous Anne Hathaway. I asked for sexy - and sexy is what I got! She even worked this Armani Prive Fall 2010 dress better than Karlie on the runway. A change is always welcome - especially when it's princess to just sex!

Other celebrities that can be found on my best dressed list were Leighton Meester in Burberry Prorsum and Olivia Wilde in Marchesa.

Eeek and now the time comes for the worst dressed of the night a.k.a The Biggest Let-downs.

Julianne Moore

While everybody (including me) predicted Julianne would wear the gorgeous red dress from the Lanvin Spring 2011 show, she decides to do this. Yes, she did wear Lanvin - but rather turned it into LanArm. Mama Moore made sure everyone noticed her arm by putting it in an ugly hot pink dress with puffy sleeve and horrible creases. On top of that, over-accessorizing was inevitable.

Michelle Williams

I can't explain how much I dislike this, so as a consolation I like to say to this:
She is a sick person, it is her dying day, so she wants to look pretty for the last time in her life. She wrapped up a flower curtain she found in the hospital around her body, did a few ruffles with her scissors and put makeup on herself. And right now she’s taking trip to the toilet!
Doesn’t it feel better?

Other worst dressed brides celebrities included Jennifer Lopez in a cheap Zuhair Murad couture dress and Jennifer Love Hewitt in Romona Keveza.

Predictions that came true (almost!) included Lea Michele, who wore an pink Oscar de la Renta dress similar to the one I chose (but tackier and with more ruffles of course) and the
blue fringed Versace dress - that unfortunately ended up in January Jones's hands, and in red.

Golden Globes Wishlist

We are starting every new year with one of the most glamorous events possible - the Golden Globe Awards. For those who may not know, the Golden Globes are held annually, and this year they are going to happen on 16th January, Sunday.
Considering the fact that I got a list with attendees of the night, I decided to make a little wishlist for the 15 actresses that are going to appear that night.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams always looks simple and elegant on the red carpet - and I hope this year won't be an exception. I chose this beautiful sheer Chloe Spring 2011 brown dress in order to make her look even more simple than ever, and by that to make her fire-red hair stand out even more than usual. Light shoes and minimal jewelry would be the perfect finish.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie wearing Versace Atelier wouldn't come as a surprise, but her wearing this particular green Versace Atelier Fall 2010 dress would be one of the most positive shocks that could happen to the reporters and style bloggers this year. Known for her love for black dresses, Angie would dazzle in this sexy thigh-split dress by pairing it with sexy heels and a silver clutch.

Anne Hathaway

I don't know how many of you are tired of seeing Anne Hathaway as the "sweet princess", but I know I am. For that reason I would love to see her wearing this sexy white Elie Saab Spring 2011 dress with a thigh-split and body-concious structure. Runway shoes and diamond jewelry would be a perfect finish.

Carrie Underwood

A little change is always welcomed when there's a celebrity style in consideration, and that is exactly what I think Carrie Underwood needs this year. Instead of going with her usual one-shoulder pretty dresses, I'd love to see her in this sexy black cut-out Gianfranco Ferre Spring 2011 dress. Black heels finish the look.

Christina Aguilera

This look would ONLY work if Christina Aguilera got back to her hair and makeup as seen on the picture above! Just imagine all that beauty, a light blue fringed Versace dress, a shiny blonde bun and non-hooker makeup. Heaven.

Claire Danes

This is probably the least expected choice, but I think it would look beautiful. A modified version of this Dior Spring 2011 dress (without the belt and blue sequins) it would be a total hit for the Golden Globes red carpet. Paired with gold heels and similar clutch.

Emma Stone

The perfect dress to go with Emma Stone's new blonde hair? White, light, fabulous. With one word, this fantastic sequined Elie Saab dress from the Spring 2011 collection. Minimal jewelry and wavy hair would be the winning combination for the night.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry has always wanted to show her best attributes - her breasts and her legs. And this dress allows her just that. The beige color works perfectly on her chocolate tan and gold accessories would be the perfect finish to this fabulous look.

Jennifer Lopez

JLo has had many stunning moments on the red carpet, including her last year's Oscar dress, designed by no other than Giorgio Armani. I'd love it if this collaboration continued in the future, especially with so many beautiful red carpet dresses in the Fall 2010 Armani Prive collection. A high up-do and dark jewelry finish this look.

Julianne Moore

Everybody knows that Lanvin is Julianne Moore's go-to brand, and everyone also knows that Julianne will most likely wear a Lanvin dress yet again to the Golden Globes this year. I am sure most of you will agree with me and People.com for choosing this red Lanvin Spring 2011 dress as it is the perfect dress for the red headed actress. Minimal jewelry and simple sandals would look perfect with the dress.

Lea Michele

Lea Michele has never been, or ever will be a well dressed person in my eyes. I will always see her as one of the tacky actresses always dressed in big satin dresses and even bigger hair. That is exactly the reason why I chose this orange Oscar De La Renta Spring 2011. Wouldn't it be the perfect match? A tacky dress for a tacky girl.

Leighton Meester

If you ask me, Leighton Meester is one of the most risk-taking actresses out there that always put on a show when taking over the red carpet. Which is why I think she is the only person that could pull off this fantastic Alexander McQueen dress from the Spring 2011 collection. Interesting choice of shoes and a sleek up-do will secure her a place in the best dressed lists of 2011.

Michelle Williams

Vionnet and Prada are probably the most suitable brands for actresses like Michelle Williams and Carey Mulligan, considering their somehow conservative and one of a kind style. A long version of this yellow Vionnet dress from the Spring 2011 collection would be the perfect choice for Michelle and her newly dyed platinum hair.

Natalie Portman

Considering the fact that Natalie Portman has just become the new face of Dior, everyone is expecting the actress to wear a dress from the same brand. I am sure she won't let the company down. This blush pink dress from the Resort 2011 collection is the perfect choice for Natalie's sweet personality and style. Minimal accessories are the perfect finish for this gorgeous look.

Nicole Kidman

The actress with the most boring red carpet style, Nicole Kidman will be a center of attention at the Golden Globe awards this year if she wears this stunning Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 dress. Besides being black, which is her comfortable zone, this dress screams sexiness with its deep cleavage and body hugging shape. Runway accessories are the perfect touch to the look.

So these are my picks for this year's Golden Globe Awards, which hopefully will be even more stunning than last year. If you have any suggestions or personal choices for these actresses please do write them in comments.

Inspiration

Basically the inspiration to start this pre-fall collection were the ruins of the ancient city Petra and its fascinating structure as well as the ability of transferring that strength from the buildings to the clothes, while still staying soft. Another thing that inspired the cuts and details of the clothes was The Chain Bridge in Budapest, while the fur was tactically added to some of the outfits to present fearless lion attitude. Colors vary from neutrals (beige, gray, brown) to bolder colors such as cornflower blue, bittersweet, byzantium purple and blush pink.
